Deep house built from Detroit soul — the drums are loose, the bass is heavy, and KDJ's vocals come in and out like they belong to the room as much as the track. The whole record has a late-night intimacy that's rare for electronic music, something closer to a live performance than a DJ tool. "Dem Young Sconies" alone is worth the price. This is what house music sounds like when someone's actually saying something with it.
