Slaves Mass
Hermeto Pascoal
JazzPigs squeal on the title track and somehow it still swings — that's Hermeto for you. This one got buried under bigger fusion names in '77 because nobody in the US knew what shelf to put it on. Cannon is the tribute cut and the warmest thing here, but Cherry Jam is where the band actually stretches out and you hear how loose and weird the arrangements get. Not background music, not even close.
