Before Aloe Blacc crossed over, he put out this quiet, focused debut on Stones Throw that showed exactly where he was coming from. The production is stripped back — live drums, bass, keys — and lets his voice carry most of the weight. There's a dusty soul feel running through it that suits him well. Worth revisiting if you only know the later stuff.
