Splazsh

Darren Cunningham makes electronic music that sounds a little damaged, like it's being transmitted through something corroded. The drums are blown out and unpredictable, the melodies come in fragments, and the whole record has this grainy, half-broken texture that shouldn't work as well as it does. Tracks like "Maze" give you just enough of a groove to hold onto before the production pulls it sideways again. It's an uncomfortable record in the best way.
