The title track alone is worth whatever you pay for this record — slow, heavy, and genuinely raw in a way that a lot of soul records from the era only gesture at. The rest of the album holds up too, mixing gritty funk grooves with moments that feel more fragile and direct. Johnson's voice has real weight and he doesn't push it harder than the songs need. The production keeps things lean, which lets the performances do the actual work.
