Leaving This Planet

A double album that goes deep into electric organ-led funk and soul jazz, recorded live with a band that clearly knew what they were doing. Earland's playing is heavy and confident — he leans into the groove rather than showing off — and the rhythm section underneath him is locked in tight. The title track runs long and earns it, building steadily without losing momentum. The whole thing has the energy of a good club set caught at the right moment.
