Don Blackman

Blackman's debut is one of those records producers find before most people do. The piano work is the center of it — fluid and emotional without getting overwrought. "Holding You, Loving You" is reason enough to pull this out, but the whole album holds together. Rhodes, live bass, strong vocals, and arrangements that give each song room to breathe.
