The Nightingales
Post-PunkPost-punk that sounds like it's arguing with itself the whole way through — jagged guitar, deadpan vocals, drums that never sit still. Robert Lloyd's delivery is more sneer than song, and that's the point. This one got buried under bigger Rough Trade-adjacent names at the time, which is a shame because the tension here is real, not affected. "Use Your Loaf" is the one that sticks.
