FunkFunk revivalism can get stiff and museum-quality fast, but this one's got actual grease on it — horns that bark, drums mixed hot, a Hammond organ doing most of the heavy lifting. "Number One" is the cut that moves a room, full stop. Bristol's not the city you'd guess for this sound, but Adam Gibbons clearly did his homework on the source material without just copying it.
