African Rhythms

Spiritual jazz with D.C. go-go bones already in it, years before anyone called it that. The title track is a slow-building ritual — chants, horns, hand percussion all stacking until it's a full-on trance. Funky Wood is the one that actually moves your hips, and it's the reason crate diggers still chase original pressings of this. Liberation Dues closes the record exactly as serious as it opened.
