Heart of the Congos

This is dub reggae built on thick vocal harmonies and a rhythm section that sounds like it's floating just above the ground. Lee Perry's Black Ark production wraps everything in tape hiss and reverb, giving the whole record a haunted, humid feel. "Fisherman" shows the interplay between falsetto and low harmony at its best. It's dense, strange, and still one of the deepest-sounding reggae records around.
