Mystic Voyage

Ayers' vibraphone glides over deep, patient grooves built on tight bass and steady electric piano. The title track alone shows how much mileage he gets out of repetition and feel rather than flash. Vocals drift in and out, more texture than focal point. This is late-night, slow-burning jazz-funk that never rushes to make its point.
