Roberson's an underground guy by choice — turned down major deals to keep doing exactly this. The record sounds like it: loose, warm arrangements, no chase for a single. "The Moon" is the one that shows off his range best, falsetto against a simple keys loop. A few tracks feel like sketches for later albums, but the writing is sharp enough that it doesn't matter.
