Desert Scores

Peacefrog put this out and it still sounds like nobody else's deep house from that era — live percussion, loose jazz chords, almost no four-on-the-floor grid to lean on. It drifts instead of drives, which cost it a dancefloor audience it probably deserved anyway. The percussion breaks are the reason to keep this one around; they sound like a session tape more than a programmed loop.
