Talk About Love

Pat Kelly's falsetto is the whole case for this record — smooth in a way that made him a natural fit for lovers rock before that term even existed. The title track, a rocksteady rework of a soul standard, is the clear high point, horns and rhythm guitar locking in behind him. Some of the back half leans formulaic, session-band reggae of the era often did. But that voice never stops carrying it.
