Mic Geronimo came out of Queens in '95 with a debut that holds up better than most people remember. The production is tight East Coast boom-bap — hard snares, chopped soul loops, bass that sits right in the pocket. He can actually rap, and the album doesn't overstay its welcome. 'Shit's Real' and 'The Natural' set the tone early and the record barely lets up.
