Red Clay

The title track is the whole reason this record gets talked about, and rightly so — that bassline from Ron Carter locks in with Lenny White's drums and just doesn't let go. Herbie Hancock's electric piano adds the color, but Hubbard's trumpet is what pushes it forward, urgent without ever getting sloppy. "Delphia" cools things down after, which is smart sequencing. This is CTI at its absolute peak, no filler on it.
